Need help with Fire Eagle?
Being sensible with Fire Eagle will help keep sharing your location a fun and easy experience for you and everyone else. Here are some recommendations to keep things running smoothly.
Only authorize applications that you trustWe have put a lot of thought into how to make your location information as safe as possible, but in the end we can't tell you who to trust. It's up to you to work out if you think a service is trustworthy or not. If you don't trust it, then don't share your location. Check how the application plans to use your locationThe people who build applications are required to tell you how they'll use your location information. You should read this information before you agree to share your location. It's also normally a good idea to read the privacy policy and terms and conditions of any site you share your location with. If you don't know what a service does then you should not authorize it. Make sure you know if your location will be publicRemember to check whether the site or service wants to display your location in public. If it does, and you're uncomfortable with that (or how they're doing it), then you should not share your location with that app. There are lots of services built on Fire Eagle that don't show your location to anyone else and are just there to help you find out more about the world around you. Don't share your exact location if it worries youFire Eagle makes it easy for you to share your location to whatever granularity you want. If you're uncomfortable sharing your exact location and travel a lot, then why not share your neighbourhood or city. Fire Eagle is only for information about your locationYou shouldn't use it to manage information about any other people, animals, packages etc. Let us know if you think an application is being creepyIf you think an app is not following the rules or doing something weird or creepy that you don't like, then let us know and we'll check into it. |
